Those are all the toys he's lost because he hasn't made it to the potty. We were doing really good, but now it's like he doesn't care that they are up there. Now I just don't know what to do....time to give it up or should I stick to my guns?
Sticking to my guns....
Cooper has been kind of potty training for a while, some days he's interested more then others. Well last week I decided enough is enough and it was time. Bribes don't really work well for him. He can tell you all the trains he gets, that he gets to go to Grandma's for a week by himself, you name it. So I resorted to this:

Oh man, that's a tough one. Accidents just happen and they can happen for a long time. Greyson is 4 but if he gets busy playing outside he can let some dribble out. I think I have gotten upset before, but that just made everything way worse and made him even more upset than me. It will stop over time, but you can't let him see it get to you. Tough call. If it's just all of the time, then maybe hold off a while?
If you think he's capable, but doesn't care (or pretends not to care) that you have a stubborn little boy on your hands. I would stick to your guns a couple more days maybe. If nothing changes I think I would just give it up for a while and when he mentions the trains and other rewards just matter of factly remind him he didn't
get it because he didn't want to use the potty every day. Then start up again with some kind of reward system that really motivates him. Some kids are just easier to train than others. My third one was the hardest and I thought I knew everything about potty training by then...
Good luck!
Man that's a tough one. I don't have any first hand advice obviously but I have been reading a few parenting books lately and it seems the key is to not let them see you get angry or frustrated (about anything!). So even if you stick to your guns or decide to let it slide, just calmly tell him the consequences and carry them through or say uh-oh you made a mistake and then go on. Hope he stops being so stubborn!
Stick.To.Your.Guns. I say whatever you do, don't go back on your word. Remember that potty training is really a battle of wills to see who is in charge. Someone told me that when I was potty training C and it was like a light bulb went off in my head and I was going to win the battle.
I've potty trained two and it can be frustrating and induce hair ripping out but once you've set the rule, then that's it. Let me know if you want any advice!
